Formed in 2005 by cousins, Ahmad Syarif and Alyph Abdullah at their tender age of 16, Sleeq is out to introduce and push their fresh musical flavor, which blends melodious soulful hooks with polished urban beats. What started out as an adolescent adventure for the pair when they had took part in a local hip-hop competition in two separate groups, blazed the path for the teenage duo to get together and become the new generation of entertainers in Singapore. Upon the release of an EP In the Q, in 2007, the self-released and self-produced debut CD, which comprises of both English and Malay songs, saw 4 out of the 9 tracks featured, hitting the radio charts of 98.7FM and Ria 89.7FM. As 2007 drew to a spectacular end for the duo, Sleeq was also nominated for 987FM Local Act of the Year and the single, "Almost, But", was put up in running for Local Song of the Year. The greatest recognition is from the Malay music industry as Sleeq has been placed alongside the Singapore Idols when the duo bagged Singapore's Most Popular Artiste together with Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza for two consecutive years (2007 & 2008) at the annual regional gala awards show, Anugerah Planet Musik Definitely ahead of their young age, Sleeq takes full control of their creations. Within the walls of the studio, Alyph carves and shapes the Sleeq sounds and beats while Syarif leads the lyrical duties.
